Ergo Expeditors is a wholly owned subsidiary of Axon Services, Inc. – established in 2003. Axon has performed numerous performance and compliance audits for private firms, public agencies, JPAs, SIGs and Insurance Pools. Some of these involved actual and preliminary OBAE and SIP audits. Janet Phinick established Axon Services, Inc. after working in the field of Workers’ Compensation Underwriting and claims administration for 13 years in the Bay Area.

After reviewing thousands of industrial injury files, it became apparent that claims examiners were unable to sustain the demands of the ever increasing caseloads AND follow-up on keyboard, mouse and chair orders recommended by ergonomists. Given the nature of the last few reforms, priorities are placed on benefits delivery, medical treatment approvals, and litigation associated with the former.

Working in the industry for the past two decades brings the opportunity to attract some of the best talent available. Most companies assign the task of tracking ergonomic orders to an employee that has little to no claims management background. This leaves them with a lack of understanding of the economics of ergonomics – the financial impact fast turn-around times have on company profits.

In addition to tracking the implementation of ergonomic recommendations, auditing services will continue to be a valuable service we offer to our clients. If you are experiencing a gradual rise or rollercoaster pattern in your Workers Compensation Experience Modification, we will review your loss history to identify errors or if there are claims administration issues. Even if your insurance broker is offering to assist you with identifying policy or premium billing problems, we are skilled with interpreting WCIRB underwriting and classification guidelines and can question your carrier at their level of expertise.

Janet Phinick, President – 21 years in the industry

Starting out at State Fund in 1990 as an underwriter, Janet graduated to claims before venturing out to work for several TPA’s and private insurance carriers. She incorporated in 2003, auditing and consulting for several private firms, public agencies and insurance pools.

Bobbi Estrada, Expeditor and Premium Auditor – 22 years in the industry.

Bobbie started her WC career at State Fund in the claims department. She later moved on to supervise the auditing department at State Fund before retiring two years ago. She is a great asset to our team.

Sue Bozzuto, Expeditor – 20 years in the industry.

Sue worked for ABD, one of the premier WC Brokerages in the Bay Area, as their operations manager. For the past 15 years, Sue managed and supported a variety of insurance programs including workers compensation.

John W. Butler, Expeditor, Claims Auditor – 40 years in the industry.

Until recently, John was principal of Compensation Claim Services for over ten years, auditing claims in California and around the country. He worked for several carriers and TPAs before enjoying a career at AON as a claims analyst. John maintained a current caseload whenever possible to keep fresh on the various reform changes.
